Steve's been glued to sports since the early '70s. He watched the Big Red Machine tear through the National League, saw Bird and Magic save the NBA, and has strong opinions about pretty much every championship run since Nixon was in office.

He's the "old" in our tagline; the guy who actually remembers when there were only three channels and you had to wait for the morning paper to get your box scores. Fifty-plus years of watching games will do that to you.

Steve writes for Up in The Rafters because he thinks sports conversations get better when someone in the room remembers how we got here. He's not here to tell you everything was better back in the day. Just most of it.
